Kho Liang Le (1927-1965) came to the Netherlands after the independence of Indonesia in 1949. Soon after his studies at the Rietveld Academy, he started working as an aesthetic consultant and designer at Artifort. Partly due to his insights and design knowledge, Artifort gains international fame. Kho Liang also designed for Fristho, Bruynzeel and Mosa and was a pioneer in the design of open-plan offices. In the 1960s he became very well known for his designs for the station building of Schiphol Airport. Many of his pieces of furniture have ended up in the collections of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
