Friso Kramer (1922-2019) was a Dutch industrial designer who was director of the design agency Ahrend from 1971 to 1983. Kramer aimed for a product design that could function in complete harmony with people and their environment. The user should be able to forget the presence of the product. He himself said: 'If form does not contribute to function, it has no right to exist.' His designs were unobtrusive and, above all, user-friendly. 'More is less' and 'form follows function' were therefore characteristic of his designs.
