Artifort

In 1890, Jules Wagemans started in Maastricht as an upholsterer. His son Henricus Wagemans transformed the company into a successful furniture factory at the beginning of the 20th century. During the crisis of the 1930s, the Artifort brand name gave the company new impetus, and with success. From 1928 onwards, Furniture Factory H. Wagemans & Van Tuinen has been known as Artifort.

With renewed energy, the first permanent designer, Theo Ruth, came on board in 1936. He gave the well-known quality and comfort of Artifort a contemporary design.

International recognition

The management was satisfied with the path taken and strove for international recognition. Kho Liang, a talented designer, played a crucial role and also brought Pierre Paulin and Geoffrey Harcourt on board. Thanks to these international influences, Artifort also managed to gain fame outside the Netherlands. The collaboration with top designers resulted in an impressive collection of design classics, the majority of which are still in production. Artifort continues to be in the spotlight worldwide!
