Fritz Hansen

Quality, innovation and location

The history of the Fritz Hansen factory begins in 1892. In this year, furniture maker Fritz Hansen receives a permit to set up a furniture factory in Copenhagen. The production of seating furniture, in particular, becomes the factory's speciality. Due to the good quality of the furniture and the central location in the capital, the factory receives many prestigious assignments and can make a name for itself. As a modern company, the factory follows the latest production techniques closely. Chairs made of solid bending wood, tubular frame and later plywood are no exception in the collection. Thanks to its knowledge and innovative power, the brand is able to attract many well-known architects and designers. The company continued to grow during the war years.

Fritz Hansen grows into a global brand

After the war, Danish furniture is very popular with other countries and meets the ideas of the new age. This lead will allow Fritz Hansen to grow into a global brand. One of the most important designers who contributed to this is Arne Jacobsen. The Ant and the series 7 chair made of curved plywood set the standard for the modern chair. It is a milestone for Fritz Hansen and Scandinavian design. Many more successes will follow and this has made Fritz Hansen the leader for more than 100 years.
