Ahrend De Cirkel

Discover the history of Ahrend/De Cirkel

Jan Schröfer, an idealistic socialist and member of the Arbeiders Jeugd Centrale, becomes the founder of De Cirkel. His introduction to Bauhaus ideas inspires him to design furniture, and so he starts NV De Cirkel.

Ahrend and De Cirkel's merger

Ahrend, originally an office supplies dealer, comes into contact with various factories, including ODA and De Cirkel. Ahrend successfully sold the furniture from De Cirkel, and in 1941 Ahrend acquired a majority interest in De Cirkel. In 1967, De Cirkel was incorporated into the Ahrend group and was renamed Ahrend de Cirkel.

Iconic designs by Ahrend De Cirkel at De Machinekamer

De Cirkel produced iconic designs, such as the Oase, Repose, Result and Revolt chairs, drawn by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld in the 1950s. These chairs served as both office and residential furniture and embodied the principles of Good Living.

Discover our extensive collection of Ahrend de Cirkel furniture at De Machinekamer and view our current range. We regularly add new vintage Ahrend furniture, including popular models such as the Oase, Repose, Result and Revolt chair.
