Furnishing a small dining area
Does your dining area connect to your living room, or do you have a small dining space? Then it can be a challenge to furnish the area in a way that’s both practical and stylish. This calls for smart solutions. We’re happy to share three key tips for furnishing a small dining space.
1. Choose a round or extendable dining table
A round table works perfectly in smaller spaces. It takes up less room and makes it easier to move around. Our round dining tables Tomrer, Olger, and Samt are available in various diameters. Want to seat more people? Go for a model with a central base like the elegant Volante table.
Another smart option is an extendable table. Models like Rikke, Fjerre, Gunni, or Onni offer extra seating in seconds. When your guests leave, simply slide it back in to make the most of your space. Can’t choose between round or extendable? Our Nonne table offers both.

2. Go for a dining bench
Is your dining room narrow, with limited space around the table? Then a dining bench is a clever and stylish solution. Placing a bench against the wall saves space on the opposite side. Just make sure there’s enough room between the table and the bench to slide in easily. Our advisors are happy to help with sizing and layout advice.
3. Pick chairs without armrests
Armrests may be comfy, but they take up more space. Chairs without armrests can slide in closer to the table and are ideal for tighter layouts. Many of our designer chairs are available with or without armrests. De Purmer, Elsene, and S16 chairs can also be upholstered to your liking. Prefer a wooden chair? Styling also plays a big part. Dark colours or too many accessories can make the space feel smaller. Want advice on layout, materials or colour use? Tell us your wishes and we’ll help you create a made-to-measure interior with a personal consultation.
