Design furniture from Europe
At De Machinekamer, we believe that truly good design starts with attention. Attention to shape, materials, and above all: the way things are made. That’s why we work exclusively with manufacturers based in Europe and offer furniture that is largely made to order. No mass production, but design with character and a story. In this blog, we explain why we’ve made that choice and what it means for your interior.
Made to order, not mass-produced
At De Machinekamer, you won’t find furniture coming off a conveyor belt, but pieces made with care and precision, only after you’ve made your selection. Many of our tables, chairs and sofas are produced only after your order is placed. This helps us avoid overproduction, work more sustainably, and offer custom solutions when needed.
This approach also means that each piece is unique. Think of an oak dining table in exactly the right size for your space, or an upholstered sofa in a colour that fits perfectly with your interior. This is design that adapts to your needs – not the other way around.

Craftsmanship from Europe
We work exclusively with suppliers from across Europe. These partners share our passion for craftsmanship and quality. You can see it in everything: the refined finish, the sturdy construction, and the timeless design. These pieces are built to last — not only physically, but also in terms of style. Thanks to this sustainable approach, our furniture stands out from fleeting trends and throwaway culture.
Exclusive brands by De Machinekamer
What makes our collection truly unique is that we design and sell our own exclusive brands. These collections are not available through dealers or other retailers – only at De Machinekamer. This gives you access to a unique selection you won’t find anywhere else. And because we're directly involved in both design and production, we can continuously fine-tune quality and keep innovating.
Each of our brands has its own distinct style and story. Sav & Økse, for example, focuses on Scandinavian design with warm wood tones and minimalist forms. The brand has grown into a broad collection of furniture with an eye for detailing, clean lines and functionality. Dykmeyer and Tubax bring industrial influences into comfortable designs. They’re based on the classic tubular steel furniture of the 1930s – a Dutch style that later set the standard for industrial interiors.
The Galvanitas Compass Collection is also part of our range: a series of reissued icons from the 1950s and 60s, originally designed for schools and canteens. We’ve brought them back in collaboration with Galvanitas, using modern techniques while preserving the original design.

For both private and professional use
Whether you’re looking for a statement piece for your home, or a larger series for a hospitality or office project – De Machinekamer offers furniture that feels like it was made just for you. We advise interior professionals, architects, hospitality entrepreneurs and private customers daily in putting together the right combinations.
Our experience in project furnishing, along with our close cooperation with manufacturers, allows us to move fast, make adjustments when needed and actively collaborate during the design process. That means we don’t just deliver furniture – we deliver complete solutions.
Frequently asked questions about production and customisation
Are all items really made to order?
Yes, the majority of our collection is produced only after your order. This is especially true for tables, upholstered chairs, lounge chairs and sofas. Some products are available from stock, but made-to-order remains our standard.
Why do you only work with European manufacturers?
Short supply chains, strict quality standards and honest craftsmanship. European production gives us more control over materials, working conditions and delivery reliability – and it helps reduce unnecessary transport.
Can I request custom furniture for a project?
Absolutely. Whether you need specific dimensions, unique finishes or large quantities, we’re happy to help. Contact us or visit one of our showrooms to explore the options.
