Charles and Ray Eames were American designers. The American designer couple had a lot of influence on the industrial design of the 1960s and 1970s. Their designs and use of materials have been an example and inspiration for many other furniture designers.
With the use of fiberglass (reinforced with polyester), Charles introduced a material that had never been used for furniture before. Moreover, he simultaneously introduced a seat shell that could be combined with different bases. Herman Miller was one of the first to market fiberglass chairs. The design is still very popular among stylists and is a real eye-catcher in the interior.
