Dirk van Sliedregt began experimenting with rattan in the 1940s and developed some chairs that were quickly picked up by the Gebroeders Jonkers furniture factory in Noordwolde. Van Sliedregt's designs are often a combination of rattan with a metal tubular frame. The designs are distinguished by an apparent simplicity, but when doing a closer examination, are noticeably extremely complicated.
